Liza Minnelli is preparing to release her autobiography. "I did it because of a series of extremely unfortunate events."

The legendary actress and singer is preparing to release an autobiographical book. Liza Minnelli's memoir, "Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!", is scheduled for release early next year. Meanwhile, the film and stage star has revealed the cover of the forthcoming book.

Last summer, Liza Minnelli announced that she had decided to write an autobiography in which she intended to come to terms with her past and summarize her distinguished career in the entertainment industry. The 79-year-old artist's achievements include an Oscar, two Golden Globes, and two David di Donatello statuettes.

At just 19, she won the prestigious Tony Award, becoming the youngest recipient in history. The daughter of director Vincente Minnelli and musical legend Judy Garland, Garland used to say that she inherited her dreams from her father and her "driving force" from her mother.

The star of the cult "Kabaret" emphasized in one of her recent interviews that she decided to write a diary to tell the story of her life in her own words - in spite of gossip and speculation.

"People asked me to write books about my career, my life, my loves, my family. 'Absolutely not. Do it when I'm gone' was my philosophy. So why did I change my mind? Because of a series of extremely unfortunate events. Productions were made about me based on half-truths. One evening over dinner, I decided that this was my story, so I would share it with you, considering the immense love you've given me," explained the Hollywood icon.

Liza Minnelli's "Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!" - what do we know about the book?

Minnelli was assisted in writing the book, titled "Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!" by Michael Feinstein, the Tony Award-winning singer and dancer with whom she has been friends for four decades. Meanwhile, People magazine has published the cover of the artist's upcoming autobiography, featuring a black-and-white photo of her as a young woman with a contrasting scarlet title. In the book, the actress will describe growing up in the spotlight, struggling with chronic anxiety and substance abuse, and four marriages that ended in divorce.

"Despite the many adversities and challenges she has faced, Liza Minnelli's life remains filled with joy. As she approaches her 80th birthday, the star opens her heart and soul to readers, sharing memories and secrets never revealed," reads the publisher's description.

The Hollywood actress's autobiography will be released on March 10, 2026, by Grand Central Publishing.

"I want you to know that I'm still here, I still love life and I'm still creating," Minnelli emphasizes.
